A Brief History of Winmau
The legacy of the famed Winmau dart board brand began in 1945 in the East End of London. The company, known at that time as H.A. Kicks & Sons, was first located in a bomb damaged building and used only a paraffin lamp for light, a coal fire for heat and the owner's father for handpainting the colors on the dartboards. They delivered the dartboards, by hand, using London's Underground System to the Watney Brewery, Kick's first customer.
In 1973, Kicks achieved a major breakthrough deal with the British Darts Organization (BDO), the governing body for darts in the U.K. From then on, Winmau dartboards would be the official dartboards of the BDO and be allowed to carry its logo and would appear in many international darts tournaments.
By the mid-1970s, Kicks changed the company name to Winmau (pronounced Win More) using the first three letters of his wife's first two names, Winifred Maud. The sudden death of Harry Kicks, Senior in 1984 resulted in the transfer of ownership of Winmau to his five sons. With the heyday of televised darts now past, trading conditions became extremely difficult. After several years of financial losses, the company was close to insolvency. In 1993, the brothers approached their U.S. distributor, Accudart, Inc., for finacial support. Accudart agreed and became the majority shareholder in the company. Within two years of appointing specialists in the business of turning companies around, the business was back to making profits and has continued to do so ever since.
In 1995, development work began on the most technically advanced bristle dartboard in the world. By 1997, The Blade dartboard was launched as the ultimate no-bounceout dartboard using sophisticated staplefree technology. Throughout its period of severe financial difficulties, the company remained committed to the BDO. Today, the Winmau World Masters Dart Tournament is represented by more than twenty-five countries around the world and is often televised. Winmau's sponsorship affiliation with the World Masters make it one of the longest serving sponsors of a sporting event.

So I bought this dartboard with cabinet for my husband who used to be in dart tournaments. He is 35. He loves it. The board is great and the wires are very thin! Definitely would be surprised to see any bounce outs! I got the cinnamon board color over the Walnut which I think was a great choice. I think the walnut may have been too dark, thus loosing that grain finish. I was hesitant about cinnamon, thinking it my be too red. Well I am very happy with the cinnamon, not very red at all. It is very pretty. The cabinet is large and well constructed. Easy to hang out as they give you a hanging template but we didn't use it. My only negative would be that the doors didn't close well as the metal numbers would touch the white boards on the doors. My only fix was to hand press the numbers down into the board which helped. I think they could have made the cabinet just a quarter inch thicker to prevent this...and finally the board didn't hang perfectly centered in the cabinet. They may have that done that on purpose as I read that more misses are towards bottom but the picture made it looked like it would be centered. I am just a stickler for perfection. Soooo it's a very nice purchase and now we just afraid to hit the cabinet and ruin it. So there may not be any drinking and playing on this board, but I doubt it, lol.

The board and the cabinet by themselves I would give a 5 to, however together they get a three because once the board is installed per the instructions it sticks out too far for the cabinet to close properly. Additionally the board doesn't stay fixed in position and has to be adjusted after removing the darts occasionally. I think that better installation instructions need to be included, stating how to keep the board from inadvertently rotating and how to install the board so that the cabinet will close.

Just as advertised and prompt delivery. Unlike some of the reviews I read prior to my purchase, the doors closed perfectly after I hung the cabinet and board.

Comments about Winmau Blade 4 Bristle Dart Board with Cabinet:
The Dart board was what was expected from a blade 4,Good quality no problems there. The cabinet is strudy and the finish is good. The only problem that I have encounterd was when you try to close the dooors they will not completely close. The doors hit the numbers ring on the dart board. I will have to add some small washers between the door and the door hinges to hopefully raise the doors enough to completely close them. Other than that everything is good.Cabinet seems to be of a strudy construction. It jusst seems to me that they set the depth size before they instsalled the score boards on the doors and now with the scoreboards installed the doors do not sit flush when closed. You will need to have some home skills in measuring and leveling. It took me about an hour to mount, remember measure twice drill once.
